Drabbles: Leia (post-Vector Prime) Rating: PG

This set is about Leia again, but this time specifically post-Vector Prime Leia. As before I've limited each drabble to 100 words. I realised that my word count was counting the 3 dot sequences as words so I deleted those when I counted. Might have to go back to the earlier ones and edit them a little!!!

From TFN: A Drabble is an extremely short work of fiction with exactly one hundred words. The purpose of the drabble is to teach brevity and test author's ability to express interesting and meaningful ideas in an extremely confined space. They must be 100 words each. No more, no less.

Love is ... still a mystery to her in many ways, a word that slips between the layers of experience like those elusive socks that disappear into the mysterious universe that connects to her world from somewhere inside the washing machine. One minute she has two in the same place and time, trudging the same well-worn paths and then one is somewhere else. And there they are, separate, and yet still marked as a pair — by brand, by shape, by pattern.

And it feels so out of kilter. And it makes her wonder sometimes if love is just habit.

Love is ... definitely seasonal. She can remember their spring, although she has to work at it to recall exactly how it felt to be at one with the world around her — all the old clichés of the sap stirring and the buds thickening seem like ... well, clichés. And yet she knows he made her feel that way. The same with summer — basking in the glow of the sun tracing patterns on her skin, his skin: all one in the warm light. Grasping and following the same sunray.

What disturbs her most is the thought that somehow they have missed autumn.

Love is ... endurance? It must be so because she really doesn’t understand how he can just go off like this ... angry, grief-stricken and so damn self-obsessed about it. Sure he’s lost one of his best friends, but he still has the other, doesn’t he? Or have the last twenty or so years been meaningless? Doesn’t he think that she misses Chewbacca, too? And then there are the kids for whom it is like a double tragedy ... and Anakin, flailed by the cruel tongue-lashings of blame.

Winter is harsh ... and unexpectedly lonely.
