Scrounged Scrap Soup
Jabba the Hutt never actually gave any thought to the care and feeding of his slaves. Some say they normally were fed to the rancor or executed before they had a chance to starve to death ... The dancers and entertainers actually lived longer than that, but his indifference was notable. So the caretakers were forced to scrounge what Jabba and his guests did not eat. Being naturally avaricious, there was often very little left. Maybe a handful of grain, or some leftover protein. It did not do to ask what was in it, but just to be grateful to be fed; meals did not come regularly.
This soup would be distributed to all the girls, so they'd probably get ½ cup apiece. But even in this small quantity, the soup was filling and nutritious. It kept them healthy, and their figures from going all bony and scary looking, and gave them enough energy to live another day.
Makes 6 to 8 very generous servings.
Variation: This recipe really did evolve from a need to clean out the pantry and 'fridge. Try adding the bits and bobs you have, such as a handful of uncooked barley. You may need to add more water and re-season to taste.
