In preparation for the Yule Ball, many of the young women of Hogwart's found themselves awaiting the requests of the men of Hogwart's, for dates to the ball. And they found themselves not only mooning after certain young men, but they themselves perceived that they needed (or wanted!) to make the effort to be nicer looking targets. So, as teens (and older women, too) do, they dieted. But in their deprivation, they strongly craved things like sweets. The house elves understood the problem, and though they were magical, they did not eschew modern sweeteners and fat substitutes. The result? A fluffy mousse with the calories restricted to the gingersnaps used as garnish! A whipped cream and fruit mixture is called a "fool" in the UK. But who's the fool? The ones who imbibe in a low-cal version, or the ones who go for the fat and sugar? It all depends; but for cravings and diets, this version isn't foolish at all.
