Wookiee Hut Cuisine presents:There are places you need to visit because they are iconic, or just so you know what you're talking about when you trash the place. It's awful, really awful -- we mean, the iconic drink, the Hurricane, is awful. And if you should get the non-alcoholic version, called the Eye of the Hurricane, ask for lemon wedges to accompany this so-sweet concoction that you need SOMETHING to keep your teeth from falling out on contact.

And it didn't even taste good. They no longer mix this stuff with mixers, constructing the drink with a skill and secret voodoo. It comes from a packet as a powder; you can buy it to take home, if you'd like.
That said, it's a wonderful space. In a French Quarter building, there are two indoor bars -- the "local" with steins hanging from the ceiling and what looks like a zillion-inch flat-screen television on the wall, and a piano bar across the alley. There are two pianos in there, so maybe they can play duelling pianos?
In the back is the patio bar, which features a flaming fountain in the middle of the courtyard. It's so tiki-bar, that we're suprised they don't affect the Hawaiian mystique. There are so many tourists who come in, get led to a table, and get asked if they'd like, "Our world-famous Hurricane," by the very polite waiters, who work on a concession system.
The drinks are served in iconic glasses, so everywhere you turn, there are tall curvy glasses filled with the scary red and rum brew (it's red ... like a jello flavor, get it?). People take photos by the fountain. There are hen parties more than stag parties. It's a big space, so you don't have to put up with a terrible amound of crowding. But in the summer, it must be a zoo.
Come to think of it, other than to check this experience off your list, why bother?
