Nona's Sauce and Meatballs

This recipe received the elusive "Pokémaniac Seal of Approval"! Serve this over your favorite pasta shape or spaghetti. Oh, and all herbs and spices listed are dried.

Pasta Sauce

1/4 cup olive oil
4 country spare ribs (pork)
2 medium onions, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 lb. ground beef
1 large can tomato paste
2 29 oz. cans tomato sauce
1 teaspoon basil
2 teaspoons parsley
1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoons pepper
1/4 teaspoons sugar
1/4 teaspoons oregano
1/4 cup dry red wine

Brown pork in oil; remove. Add onions and garlic; brown. Add ground beef; brown. Add tomato paste; cook a few minutes. Add tomato sauce and all spices and herbs. Put pork back in and make meatballs. Add to sauce. Simmer slowly 3 to 4 hours.


1 1/2 lb. ground beef
1/2 lb. ground pork
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/3 cup parmesan cheese
1 egg
1 tablespoon parsley
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
garlic powder, to taste

Mix all ingredients together. Shape into balls. Brown in frying pan then add to sauce.
