Wookiee Hut Cuisine presents:
Kettch's Chicken Salad Pasta from Leftovers
by Susu

Lieutenant Kettch, being a stuffed toy, could hardly be expected to pull any weight for KP duty. But he was the author of several practical jokes around base, and it was eroding morale. In a transparent effort to trap the perpetrator, a frustrated Wedge Antilles included Kettch on the roster, and rigged the kitchen to observe the trickster. Imagine his surprise when the Wraiths showed up, knowing the hidden holocameras had shown no one reporting for dinner duty, to find that dinner was served! No trace of Kettch's presence could be found, so they dug in. They declared the dinner simple but delicious!

True, Kettch had taken advantage of leftovers -- the refrigerator had held cold pasta, chicken salad, and some veggies from a green salad from the night before. He apparently simply threw it all into a bowl and tossed it together, minimizing the dishes he might need to wash. He even served it in the same bowl.

By the way, Kettch didn't return to clean up, but he did leave his recipe in a datapad left in the kitchen. And Wedge can't really figure out how it was done, and by whom ...?

  • 1 lb. penne or other tube style pasta, cooked and cooled, tossed with olive oil to prevent sticking
  • 1 lb. cooked chicken, cubed, about 2 cups
  • 1 tomato, julienned
  • 1 new potato, cubed
  • 1/2 head romaine lettuce, sliced thinly, crosswise
  • 2 ribs celery, sliced thinly, crosswise
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • seasoned salt
  • pepper, freshly ground
Toss ingredients together. Refrigerate covered overnight if desired. Taste and adjust seasoning before serving.

Serves 8 or so as a side dish.
